Stewardship
St. Luke is a prayerful, welcoming, Eucharist-centered community with
a common vision: God is the source of all. Its parishioners are committed
to furthering the word and work of Christ by caring for each other and
all of God’s creation. In gratitude, they joyfully give back a portion
of their God-given gifts of time, talent, and treasure.
Finance Committee
The Code of Canon Law requires each parish to have a finance committee.
This committee is governed by the norms of the Code, and allows the Christian
faithful to be of assistance to the pastor in the administration of parish
resources and goods.
The role of the Finance Committee is consultative. It assists the pastor
in the preparation of the annual parish budget; reviews monthly financial
reports; does consultation on major capital expenditures; advises on fund-raising
efforts; reviews and certifies movable inventories; and provides aid and
advice in other areas as requested by the pastor.
Stewardship & Development Committee
The Stewardship & Development Committee is comprised of volunteer lay
leadership, the parish clergy, and staff. It reports to the Stewardship
Commission of the St. Luke Parish Pastoral Council. The Committee is responsible
for the development and implementation of the stewardship programs that
embrace the spiritual principles of Christian stewardship to meet the following
goals:
-
Inform our parishioners about the spiritual blessings and material benefits
to be derived from Christian stewardship, and educate our parishioners
about the scriptural basis for the obligation of every Christian to practice
stewardship.
-
Inform our parishioners about our parish’s financial needs and the need
to support our parish community.
-
Provide parishioners and others with information on the various ministries
available for them to offer their time, talents, and treasures to St. Luke
Parish. Develop and oversee the implementation of parish stewardship.
-
Coordinate the corporate sponsorship program encouraging business support
of parish events and act in an advisory and support capacity for parish
ministries, clubs, and other committees in regard to their events.
-
Provide recommendations to the Stewardship Commission, as needed, regarding
the development and prioritization of projects related to stewardship that
are needed for the long-term viability of the parish.
Stewardship Contact
Once a year, in October, St. Luke extends an invitation
to its members to renew their commitment to “total stewardship.” Weekends
in October are dedicated to educating the community about the privileges
and responsibilities that we, as God’s people, have to his Church and to
each other and the community. We are called to give back to God the first
fruits of his blessings that he has bestowed on us. During October, stewardship
cards are distributed and collected at weekend Masses. Those who have not
made identifiable stewardship contributions are contacted by phone by members
of the Stewardship Contact Committee. They are offered another opportunity
to participate in the biblically based concept of “total stewardship.”
This contact also gives parishioners an opportunity to ask questions, and
express any concerns or needs that they might be experiencing at the time.
Financial Planning & Wills—Free Seminars
Usually held in March and October, these free gatherings
are low key and for informational purposes only. You will not be subjected
to any sales pitch and no products or services are sold.
The Stewardship Ministry sponsors these presentations
on Financial Planning, Estate Planning, and Wills. We do
encourage attendees and others to consider the various ways they can become
part of St. Luke’s future growth. Gifts, grants, annuities, in-kind goods
and services, identified and ‘need specific’ funding, and Corporate Sponsor
programs are a few of the methods available to those who wish to enhance
their Stewardship of Treasure.
The “Financial Planning” and “Estate Planning” seminars
are presented by professional financial advisers and cover the myriad ways
to invest for the future while minimizing risk and tax effect. The “Wills”
program, presented by a practicing attorney, gives an overview of the elements
of a will and includes a thorough question and answer period. Please refer
to your church bulletin or call the office for dates and times.

Parish Development
Long range strategic planning is an important aspect of
St. Luke’s “total stewardship” commitment. Scripture tells us it is not
prudent to undertake a project until we are assured that adequate resources
exist for its completion. (Lk 14:28-30)
It follows that it would be unwise for a viable parish
not to include development as part of its “total stewardship” program.
Through various ministries, we seek to inform those individuals and businesses
that may have an interest in helping St. Luke’s future growth, with ways
to do so.
Building & Maintenance Committee
The mission of the Building & Maintenance
Committee is to advise the pastor and the Executive Committee regarding
the building and maintenance of church property. To see to it that, as
good stewards, we make the proper and best use of parish resources.
