Welcome!
St. Luke the Evangelist Church is a growing Catholic community located in Slidell, Louisiana, about 35 miles north of New Orleans. We have a tradition of hospitality, spirituality and community participation. We are called to extend our spiritual life, along with community growth, by remaining a haven for people of all ages, attending to the particular needs of our Catholic family, assisting those experiencing distress and despair, and by centering ourselves around the Eucharistic Liturgy.

The purpose of this web site is to keep our parishioners and visitors informed of what's going on at St. Luke. Our hope is that by becoming involved and using our God-given talents, we can can help build the Body of Christ on Earth.

St. Luke the Evangelist Church… a “Total Stewardship” Parish

Warm Welcome to
Rev. Joseph Thang Dinh Tran

St. Luke’s New Parochial Vicar
Fr. Tran escaped from Vietnam on a boat with just the clothes on his back and went to France initially. He is the second oldest of 11 children. He has a brother who is a priest and his mom and most of his family still live in Vietnam. In March 1990 he came to the United States. Fr. Thang was ordained on May 25, 1996. He was previously at St. Peter’s in Covington. He is known as a humble, kind priest who is very fun loving, loves being around people of all ages, and his faithfulness to the youth and young adults. He loves to walk, exercise and play tennis.

O Mary conceived without sin,
pray for us
who have recourse to thee!
